SUMMARY:Ethics of early clinical trials in regenerative medicine in transplantation
DESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\nBio-artificial organs and bio-engineered or bio-printed tissues for transplantation in humans are rapidly being developed. It is anticipated that some applications will be ready for clinical testing in the near future. How can first-in-human clinical trials be conducted in a safe and responsible manner? What are ethical points to consider for early clinical trials of regenerative medicine in transplantation? This workshop brings together experts in the fields of regenerative medicine and ethics to discuss these ethical challenges.\n\n\nKEYNOTE SPEAKER\n \nProfessor Jonathan Kimmelman, McGill University\nDirector of Biomedical Ethics Unit\nAuthor of Gene Transfer and the Ethics of First-in-Human Trials: Lost in Translation\n\n\nSHOWCASES OF REGENERATIVE MEDICINE APPLICATIONS\nInsights from 3 projects funded through EU Horizon 2020\n‘Regenerative medicine: From new insights to new applications’\n– VANGUARD: Dide de Jongh, Erasmus MC\n– OrganTrans: Ary Marsee, Utrecht University\n– Brav3: Olalla Iglesias García, University of Navarra\n\n\nPANEL DISCUSSION\n \nModerated by Eline Bunnik & Emma Massey, Erasmus MC\nPanel members\nJonathan Kimmelman, McGill University\nAntonia Cronin, King’s College London\nEkaterine Berishvili, University of Geneva\nAnne-Floor de Kanter, Utrecht University\nMariana Pacheco Blanco, Amires S.r.o.\nManuel M.
