On 25-26 January 2024, the biannual VANGUARD General Assembly took place in Innsbruck-Igls, Austria. Seventeen representatives from the consortium’s eight project partners gathered for a two-day event focused on project updates, planning, and discussions. The meeting was kindly hosted by the ESOT team.
Unlike previous editions, this assembly prioritised interactive discussions over traditional one-way presentations. The first day began with an informal dinner, providing an opportunity for networking and project-related discussions in a relaxed setting. On the second day, the consortium convened at congresspark Igls to address scientific and administrative topics.
Key agenda points included ongoing publications, remaining deliverables, and upcoming tasks. Two in-depth discussions were led by:
- Olivier Thaunat (CHU-LYON) – In vitro screening of edited cells and assembled constructs
- Mohsen Honarpisheh (LMUM) – Immuno-tolerance of grafts in allogenic and xenogenic settings
The new discussion-driven format proved highly effective, fostering engagement and ensuring a smooth path forward for the project’s final six months.
Looking ahead, the next in-person meeting is scheduled for April 2025, where partners will finalise the remaining project activities.
